L'IMMAGINE IDEALE

With this title Ethnoarte presents a collection of sculptures, which, starting from the Indo-Hellenistic art of Gandhara, comes to Indian Middle Age, drawing a visual pathway of the aesthetic canons and symbolic of different cultures. The common thread through which the trail leads, is the representation of beauty "ideal", which starting from the form arrives to the evocation of the Divine. The Gandhara art is a sacred art that shapes the message of the Buddha; the artist, through the figurative language makes it accessible not only to the understanding initiated, making it a means of spreading the Buddhist doctrine. The Indian art is life itself in all its forms, expresses the ideal of beauty through the observation of nature and has symbolic value, through which the sculptor evokes the sense of the divine and the transcendent.
